  • Hey Matt, I started playing LoL back around 2015 I think, and for a while I was playing basically everyday. That said, the last time I played a match was over a year ago now. With Pre-Season underway I've been thinking about starting again, but I'm really hesitant to because of some of the reasons you talked about in your video. I really enjoy the game and the new items looks super fun, but I just can't handle the shear amount of toxicity in the game. Part of the reason I was able to play so much back then was because I had friends I would play with and who could act as a sort of buffer for the toxicity. I've drifted apart from those friends though and don't have that buffer anymore. People always hear about how toxic the players can be, but hearing about it from someone who has been a major part the community as a whole and to hear you talk about it in such a calm manner honestly makes me feel better about it. I've also started watching one of my old favorite LoL LTworldsrs Huzzy which has also helped because he shows me that not everyone in the game is toxic. I don't know if I'll end up playing again, but seeing this video has made it easier for me to consider it.

  • I think the outdated champion spotlights you did are history, i mean it in a good way. i came to league just this season (S10) and have been impressed by the amount of history this game have. 10 seasons, lots of champions reworked, i would like to know more about all of it!... but riot doesn't really save a big archive of the champs; maybe the wiki! But it isn't as appealing as a charismatic video explaining the champ and its abi- oh boi there ARE videos of quality about the old version of the champ! My point is, i'm glad there is a quality source of the history of the game such as your vids. They're like a time capsule and are pretty much appreciates for people curious on the past. Now i know history isn't as appealing as present day to day champion info, but i'm anyways gratefull for it, and i know more people are thankfull (Exil's channel is a history archive of LoL) Anyways, thanks for the effort and great content thus far, i just recently subscribed and i hope you keep at it for a long time

  • Revisiting your channel and I agree majorly. The complexity of the champions isn't what bothers me as much as the overloadedness of kits tho. Like Aphelios having his funky HUD is fine, ultimately he isn't that complicated, just intimidating at face value and different. Champions like Senna with roots, massive range, massive damage, massive scaling, massive shields and heals, and stealth/Movespeed are what kill me. Not every champion needs to be equipped for EVERY situation. To me Clash was the harbinger of doom. Bringing competitive to casual (and mangling the already garbage client). Skins became quantity over quality, there's no hype to events or releases anymore, streamers are boring, leaks are rampant, everything is balanced to fit competitive, the MINORITY of the playerbase, and everything revolves around rank and mastery. It rings painfully to me that the most fun I had in League in the past month was trying out talon for the first time in a coop-ai and trying to parkour every piece of terrain. I just wanna watch the little man roll. That was single-handedly the most amusing and positive experience I've had in game in awhile, I feel like I don't have that fun anymore, we all try so hard to win that we exhaust ourselves and get angry at each other even though it's just a game. Also fuck Seraphine.

  • Riot releases too many, adds too many. They want to reach the peak. They seize their moment to make the game more appealing but things might not end well for some. The new item updates are too much to thinks of. (going invisible when you get a kill). The game is competitive enough for all global players, but things just keep on shifting. They raise the competitiveness that doesn't balance well with some of us. If you're familiar with DOTA2 you know that it is too complicated, too many to learn, the mechanics, the map interactions, etc. But to think of it, since DOTA2 is created the gameplay, the style of how the game works are the same. My point is that League of Legends doesn't need to be complicated to be enjoyed by many. Think of it as consistency. I know that LoL is on the high charts so we can't blame Riot why they keep the game shaping. The game is improving but it is more like changing. 2017 is when I'm hyped up to play League. The rune update is where they make the game balance in a sense to all players. But now, more mechanics are added and the classic game we all knew in the past years is now different.

  • You're so god damn right. I feel like content creators have a lot more difficulties to make original, funny, interesting or even remotely good content, especially you, Lone Coyote, etc... But it's not because of you, it's, as you said, because of the way Riot changes the game every time, because they don't know how to fix their game in a way that makes it playable for more than a week or 2. And it's disgusting. They always talk about implementing new stuff in the game to make league a better game, but since i started playing 3 years ago, the game hasn't felt better one single time, especially because of the content around it. Like you, and i think like most of the community, i love the game in itself, but the fact that everything revolves around just OP strategies or being really good at the game makes it a game that nobody likes. Anyays, loved your content since i started playing, love your videos, I would love to see you play more "serious" games like Blasphemous, Warframe (which can be fun when played with friends) or things like that! So yeah, hope you won't quit youtube too soon cuz that would make the platform feel empty, and don't give up, do what you love and ignore the people who hate you!

Been playing since Season 2 but gave up on Rank about 4-5 years ago because of how toxic it is and now I get flamed for being “Low Elo” or “Silver Trash” if I ever have a bad game when honestly most of the time I am just there to have fun. I used to be Plat 2 but I never shit on someone for being lower than me because it’s so fucking stupid. I rarely even play the game anymore because I just get stressed out. I still like the game especially with friends although most of them are pretty competitive. I haven't really poured that many hours into playing the game as much but I do enjoy playing it a lot.

  • I get you man, i stop playing games a couple years ago but league is just part of my life, by competitive scene, play cuz is part of the routine or sometimes, or just sometimes... having fun with friends, shit i even stop playing casuals and just rank on flex cuz i dont even get mad anymore... but i love/hate league. I start making videos 4 years ago cuz i love what you do and i wanted to do it my way and i love it... but i upload twice or maybe 3 times a year cuz yeah, everything ill do now will be useless in 6 months, or, in the case of my ornn video, 3 fcking weeks, 3 FCKING WEEKS, WTF! But yeah, is sad seing you out of league, darkmane doing it soooo low handed or even skooch who keeps doing videos making it... less often. Exil and Gbay (reforged gbay :v) are quality content but is not league itself, is more about the storytelling that they manage to do everytime that gets you hooked.... Ah, 6 years playing league miself too.... i dont know whats happening next, im sure lol will be still around in 10 years, but thats it, no one knows how, it will be dying? Maybe. Bigger? Maybe. Not the main game of riot´s anymore? Maybe. Lets wait, meanwhile we can play, not play, just watch esports, just do costplay, just play tft, stop following everything, whatever.... Sometimes is just sad how by knowing the how to play the game just dont have fun anymore....

  • been saying for years for lol. riot needs another game mode that is little bit more casual or not "on the fucking book" meta required. basically this: a mode where every 2-3 months it changes what champs AND items are available. remove i dont know 1/4 of current champs all randomly chosen or specific focus and same with items BUT also add in old items during the time. for ppl that play this mode they can only play champs thats havnt been removed and only utilize items that havnt been locked off. exm: s1 of this only last 2-3 months the only champs playable are gen 1 champs. basically the first year of lol. same with items with removing new items and bring back old ones ONLY for these 2-3 months. then once it ends this time they remove 15-20 champs randomly or specifically same with items and ppl that play it try out new builds or go nuts with it. that or i pray one damn day they do something like heroes of the storm does with their unique maps and each having their own objectives. an arcade mode with 2 versions. 3v3 or 5v5. 3v3 bring back twisted treeline with some changes and 2 new 3v3 maps with objectives. same with 5v5. bring back crystal scar for this with 2 new objective 5v5 maps. in end you have norms, rank, aram, 3v3/5v5 arcade and/or "theme season" modes. for the ppl that want to be the next faker wannabe sure go nuts and focus rank and nothing else. somewhere in between then yeah rank or norms. more casual then aram or those modes i mention.

  • I hate this game. I hate it SO MUCH, but I've stuck with it for ten years, and spent so much money on it, and I've had a lot of good times with it. I remember maining old Karma before they deleted her and replaced her with a generic mage. I remember maining Vladimir before they deleted him. I met my ex on League. I remember Twisted Treeline and Dominion and always wondering when the next unique map would come out... But now it's just Summoner's Rift, ARAM, and whatever low-effort garbage they put in periodically, and they're all tainted by Riot's increasing pandering to esports crowds and the lowest common denominator. Things like instant death damage, executions, big flashy ults, a million hyper-mobile dashes, being unkillable with Death's Dance/Conqueror... Those are all designed to LOOK cool to a spectator, but feel like complete ASS to anyone playing the game. It makes non-players WANT to play and become high ranked and prestigious, while it makes the actual player feel bad. Riot wants to foster a frustration in players. They want to make them feel like they have to play the newest most OP champion, but they can't get Blue Essence by losing, so they have to buy the new champions with RP to win. Then, since they're stuck playing the easy instant win champions like Yasuo, Zed, Yone, Samira, and Kayn (four of which are basically clones of one another), they might as well buy skins since everyone else is playing them and they have to differentiate themselves somehow while they flex on people who didn't buy them. Thus, the cycle continues, and players make other players frustrated to force purchases. The change from IP to Blue Essence was a calculated attempt to scam players out of rewards for the simple act of playing the game. Lootboxes are designed to be addictive and I'm pretty sure it's been proven that Riot gives better odds to people who open lootboxes on camera to influence people to buy them. Samira's spotlight literally calls her the "tilt queen" while telling Yasuo to "move over," so they KNOW she is designed to make people angry, and is a ripoff of Yasuo's design, basically attempting to make another extremely overpopular champion. There is nothing in this game that makes the experience positive for the general player. You have to delude yourself with the chase of prestige and ranking, or seeking instant death kills that don't actually feel like playing the game, because there's no moment-to-moment gameplay that requires conscious thought, just building a one-shot beatstick that abuses mechanics with no counterplay. Riot removed their tenets of game design from the website years ago. They don't care about making a fun game. They just want money. And they're willing to hurt everyone who plays the game in order to get it.

  • Decided to re watch this, as I've reached my limit with league. I liked the competitiveness and the casual play but the toxicity and environment that Riot has allowed League to become is too much. They say they dont like toxicity but it's a heavy breeding ground for it and the report system is shit as fudge. They say mute all or the one or more particular person/people but that doesn't stop the toxicity from happening or them getting away with it OR you being the one that gets punished for defending yourself (especially if they are with other people or can lie). You then miss out on the one thing people liked about league which was you get to meet new people, who can be future friendships, coz you do everything in your power to not stand up for yourself or for someone else in fear of it being thrown back at you. Also this whole idea of releasing a champ for each role but not being able to control and fix your client for the majority of people to enjoy, is weird. Yes, you can't please everyone but they aren't even trying to please the minority let alone the majority - coz not everyone will become/are streamers or a pro gamers. The majority are casual players or semi-hardcore gamers. Then, the champ releases and the patches, you are technically given 3 days to a week to learn/improvise with the new patches and new champs before league makes even more changes or until people start berating you, I've seen people be toxic towards people who have played a champ that came out 3 hours ago, let alone if you change role mains permanently or for a lil variety/experimentation, people will bitch and league just allows it. League with the overall content is great, new champs = new experiences and variety, changes to older champs = the same but also can show the champ is a new like, make the easier to play and match up with the current world of league which is forever changing. BUT the constant patches, the increasing toxicity, the broken clients and report systems, the direction of league being more for full time gamers than casuals makes it irritating and frustrating to play. Even for me a very, very casual player. Sorry for the rant.

  • I'm a casual player. I have been playing since season 4 and I think the game is getting worse for most of the reason you said. If you aren't ranked you are garbage and speak on the state of the game if you are ranked you are garbage unless you are like challenger 800 LP. Something I loved as a casual player that they did away with was the rotating game modes where every weekend we got an alternate game mode to play. It was fun and great because what it allowed more casual people to do is just go have fun on the weekends with some friends in the game when they didn't like the current patch or season. It's also one of those things when someone asks me if they should get into League I in good conscious can't tell them yes because it's awful to get into. Even new players are super toxic toward each other saying how much each other sucks or how broken a champion is instead of just trying to have fun with the game. I recently played in a 5 man premade with some friends and before it was fun whether we won or lost but now it just feels like "whatever" and sure we have a great time talking to each other but it feels like if we played any other game we would of had more fun and we proved this by playing a bunch of random games together. League isn't what it used to be and as much as I love the game I also hate it.

  • There's always a day where you look at that icon on your desktop and ask yourself where's the fun you have on the game these days... for me its always the feeling of some champions, like Neeko who plays a more mental game. But there's a friend of mine, a good friend who just almost go insane sometimes ingame, and while i understand why, it gets me to a point where i realy see why i keep playing that much, its because "Someone on the other team is having a worst game than me" When i play the game i always pay atention to /all to see if someone on the other team is tilted, so i can exploit it, like when i change my Neeko into a low HP adc and dodge 3 global ultimates and send a "?" on /all and then, some minutes later, someone kills me in the middle of a team fight and sends a "?" too... its godamn hilarious... to think that something so tiny could have a impact on someone to just hate you for a outplay. Don't get me wrong, i'm never toxic like those assholes out there, i just send baits so i can see if there's a opening to be exploited, but when you start to get a taste of those things you realise how worthless those reactions are. That friend of mine gets insane on every match just because an emote, an Lulu laugh or something like that, and when he kills that champ who did it, he starts flaming him on /all, and just makes them flame back or just laugh it off... Why?... i don't know... but i do know that is just useless... If you want to be toxic to someone who's being a piece of shit, be sure to understand that you're not hurting nobody, you're just feeding something even worse, you're making his day, you're just doing exactly what he wants you to do... because in the end of the day, its a game... and even though you want to win... those actions are opening that everyone can exploit... Just mute them and report them on the end of the match, because that's the only productive thing you can do since Riot removed the tribunal... Well, quoting Erik Wright, a Dota 2 LTworldsr, "The reason i'm still sane while playing this game is because i know someone on the other team is having a worst game than me"

The best thing for Riot to do is to introduce, "classes" where, when you select a champion, you are able to select their reworked version or their original version for gameplay. • As a mid elo player that plays multiple roles I can assure you the toxic celebrity thing is a real phenomenon. The worst part about it isnt the fact that the streamers are annoying and egotistical, we can just choose not to consume their content or skip their clip in an ifunzio highlight video. Some of them even make educational content for people trying to climb despite the occasional elitism, like kingstix. Honestly its the worst when corona is a thing, youre stuck playing from another region with all your shit on NA, you bar yourself from ranked since you dont want to grief other players with your finnicky 220+ ping and people feed blame and talk shit in norms when they have no knowledge over the role or champion you are playing. And thats all just because they watched a streamer do some insane build with it while on a smurf in silver. I’m guilty of salt too. When this shit happens I call them out for being silver, I cuss them back out of frustration and go in depth explaining how I cant hope to outgank a zac on lilia. I never pull OP.GG on them real time and do “background checks” with any 3rd party website like some rank fanatics but I do check my own game logs after a day of games out of habit. Most of the time I hilariously find calling them silver during our matches was actually a literal compliment to them. The “trick2g wannabe” and challenger elitism-but monkey mechanics combo are still prominent mental illnesses to this day even in norms. And its toxicity ever more infectious.

  • I recently returned to league this year after 5 years because I finally had friends who would play it with me. I do have a genuine desire to get good at the game but not in a "I want to get to challenger" way just a "I wanna be good enough that I can make fun plays on champions I enjoy no matter the state of the meta." It's really difficult to get into the game nowadays as opposed to years ago because if you want to play competitively there's tons of people who've been playing this game for 10 years ready to crush it because they have way more time on the game than you can even begin to catch up to mechanically and if you want to play causally and you don't have a five stack there's so much toxicity it's hard to have a good time. I have horrible social anxiety and playing on my own or trying to learn a new champion gets me so stressed because if I mess up once my entire team and enemy team is flaming me so hard I can't focus and just keep playing worse and worse. I got filled into jungle one time and because it was normals I didn't care (because people dodge in blinds and draft they're so competitive) so I tried to do my best and learn but the amount of toxicity from both sides gave me such a bad anxiety attack I shut off my computer and started to cry after the match was over. I feel discouraged to even try and learn because you're expected to be a diamond tier player once you hit level 30 and even if your teammates feed and never ward its your fault for not helping them more. I adore this game and I'm so glad I'm playing it again but god the community for this game is in absolute shambles.

Trying to improve/learn a new champion is hard cuz i don't wanna watch 154 outdated champion guides on youtube that make no fucking sense. Also my impression of lol was that it's a bad game goibg downhill due to lack of good content, and power creep. And My opinion hasn't change after a few months of playing lol later. It scares me cuz riot games used to be this good game development company, but now they resemble Valve more and more they only care about money and competetivenes. Iv'e never seen a game as big as lol be so deprived of content. It's All just 1 million streamers and their reaction/play through of New or reworked champs. And Also iv'e never seen a game with more .Exe videos than lol, except for maybe apex legends. Honestly when i heard of Aphelios, Lilia, Yone and Samira i just list it. Just because they are way to complicated, and I know skooch think it's good for the game cuz it's more fun champs to play. But it just makes no fucking sense, like why tf should i know latin to play Aphelios wtf sry for the venting. Have a good day. (^ :

  • Only one season I tried out ranked. I was put in silver and was surprised because I didn't really do well I thought in the 10 game qualifier (were I was hammered by the randoms I was paired with). I stopped doing or watching any League after the G2vIG finals I think 2 years ago, and only lightly came back now. I only ever play with some school friends and never want to do ranked because it's toxic, but then even casual draft is bad; whenever I get filled into jungle I hate it, but try my best if no one wants to swap, then they grief me if I don't perform like an LPL pro (then on the flipside, if someone is filled and no one trades with them they run it down). Some of my favorite champs are unplayable for different reasons, and I miss old designs; I loved old fiddlesticks, it was my favorite jungle champ because it was fun to try to recreate the inSec plays from S4. All these new champs seem lazy sometimes and are dumb, or they are complex as hell... and are dumb. It's pretty upsetting because I have some pretty good memories, but my mood can tank because I don't do well in casuals 2 games in a row and I get flamed; I'm very competitive, and I get upset with myself when i don't do well, but it's casual, I don't get why people get so toxic. • Hey man, your content is what got me to start playing League. I watched your videos because you and your friends are so funny, even though the only game I ever seriously got into was Brawl Stars on mobile (and a little Valorant.) I decided after watching your "hottest champs" videos to get the game, and I currently main Shaco. I was disappointed that you don't think he's hot lol. Anyways. I agree with you and I think it is very sad that League is heading down the path it is currently taking. I have found a bright spot in the r/*insertchampname*mains subreddits though. Between Shaco, Jhin, and Kha'Zix, the people in these subs are very nice and helpful, and don't care if I'm a bronze seemingly inting because I don't even hardly know what my abilities do. I think that if you get away from the whole "Riot Games LCS Team Liquid Worlds Bigger Than The Super Bowl" machine and just play with friends and other people who like your champ, for fun and no other reason, the game is worth playing. I haven't played as long as you and I could be wrong but that's just how I feel right now. Anyways thanks for making such great content, keep up the good work!

  • I've always been a competitive player in league because competition was much more fun to me than the casual aspects of things, generally. I think League has done a lot of things to improve the quality of life for the COMPETITIVE SCENE as you mentioned, but I really miss maps like Twisted Treeline or Dominion which were more casual friendly. I've hit a plateau from season 7 to 9, also busy with school, being stuck in Platinum 1 as a Top/Mid/ADC main(playing since season 4). I started studying a whole plenty of 'Skill Capped Challenger LoL Guides' this year alone and started having fun in this game again because I've become less focused on the toxicity of others and more focused on playing well myself and having so much fun winning that I finally reached Diamond, and on 3 accounts, Season 10 a few days ago duo queueing with friends(simply to mitigate the less chances of getting terrible teammates this season alone). Exil's video on "How to improve on League of Legends" with Dopa's interviews and such have really hit me where I need to improve competitively, and all of this has brought back my joy in this game because I'm a competitive person that likes winning -> winning and outplaying is fun to me. Ranking has been a horrendous grind this season, however, with the amount of toxic players and players simply not knowing what to do/how to play. Back then, competitive players would need to know how to play all the roles to an extend in their elo but today players don't understand other roles if they're autofilled. Riot has also made ranking in the lower elos easier to climb out of(Gold 1 and below) with the free wins in series which incentives spending more time playing the game to coinflip victories than to learn and improve. Once many of those players hit the lower tiers of Platinum, they're not ready or prepared for that elo because they've climbed by spamming games and getting free victories in their series than to learn how to improve. In my perspective, Platinum today was Silver in Season 3-6. Player Mechanics may have improved, but Player Game knowledge is severely lacking. I've researched Riot's response to having terrible games and on how to rank up despite these kind of teammates and it's simply just: "if you want to have better mmr and climb, you have to win more". Many of Riot's reworks on champions have torn apart many fans and one-tricks to their dedicated champions of old. Riot's response to those players have seemingly become more negative and lack-luster. Champions like Aatrox, Aurelion Sol, Volibear, Ryze, Leblanc, Rengar, Zed, Mordekaiser, and more have seen various changes that players did and didn't like. Many of the old reworks have received REVERTS because the player base overall did not like the changes. This was prominent in champions like: Zed, Rengar, and Leblanc. Champions that were very popular have seemingly seen these REVERTS, but what about the other not-as-popular champions? Riot's responses have grown more and more silent as they ignore us, the community, while they bombard us with more events and PRESTIGE SKINS. When URF came out yesterday, I was playing my old one-trick Riven to have fun and practice my mechanics with my friends. I went 25/14/5 in one of the games and lost, most importantly wasn't having fun because the entire enemy team 5-man picked ranged champs with lots of CC/Damage and URF-metas and just split-pushed entirely instead of constant teamfighting/limit testing. This was frustrating to me because I just wanted to have fun with my friends but was hit by try-hard players in a casual game mode. The wrong-minded competitiveness and toxicity of League plagues over the casual player base.

  • I'm a little late on this but i just picked the game up 3 weeks ago so ill throw my 2 cents in. I started league cause i wanted a new game to play with my friends, and most of my friends had already been playing for a few years now. Starting the game is super overwhelming with the mechanics and learning all the champions and what they do. After 3 weeks I have finally gotten to the point where I'm not feeding anymore and I'm going positive and winning most games. However even though I am level 30, I ABSOLUTELY refuse to play ranked. I come from just about every competitive FPS from CSGO, R6S, Overwatch, Valorant, etc, and I liked the grind in most of those games. However League of Ledgends is 1000% no doubt in my mind is the most toxic fucking game I have ever played. Never will I ever turn all chat on again. I don't know what it is but everyone judges you for micro mistakes and calls you some sort of derogatory term 70% of the time. Sure, I have A LOT of fun playing with my friends but solo queue is something I'll do if I'm desperate for Xp or essence. I will keep playing but as a Competitive game Vet I wouldn't touch ranked with a 30 foot pole. Edit: Fuck top lane

    • Friendly note as a league player that started playing season 6 and has played almost every day since then. Don't care about ranked and don't care about what others tell you about your rank. I will tell you about my personal experience on the topic. I have been trying to get diamond but that shit is not worth. There were so many times that i wanted to stop playing ranked but its so addictive. I think now is the time that i will finally stop. Even if i get to diamond things will be better not worse. The only benefits you can get is becoming a pro player or a streamer out of it, the chanches of which are highy imrpobable. You should really put time and money on other things definitely not (ranked) league of legends. Imo, casual playing is the ideal way to approach this game and gaming in general

We're gonna play what we want where we want in blinds and see how far we can get before we get banned. So far we've had alot of fun playing duo top, inviting the rest of the team to join in on the mess to get things like triple bot, and just having a blast not caring too much on farm and kills. We stopped looking at the patch notes or any news about the game in general. I can only wonder how long this can go on for before we get hit with the no fun sign.

  • There needs to be a comfortable balance between the two. I don't think oneside should be catered to exclusively when RIOT can give both sides a place to shine individually. Easy fix I thought of is to just split norms into ranked practice and casual. That way they can punish griefing players who impede those trying to learn the game/practice for ranked. The for fun builds and casual players can have fun too in their own mode without too much impact either. As a tangent: anyone who stalks streamers or LTworldsrs just to harass them should be banned outright RIOT needs to seriously fix this free reign they have in the community.

  • I've been playing league of legends for like 5 years now and I'm in pretty much the same boat as the Karp lad up here. I originally got into the game because of my friends, and it used to be a thing which I would, well, could, sit down and have a good time with them. However, as of recently I just don't find it that fun anymore. I've always been a very casual player who would rather have fun than win the games, but the environment at its core doesn't feel fun anymore. I don't feel like Riot wants to reward casual players as much as those grindy tryhards and the ones who jerk off to their ranked border. I see less and less people who are willing to fuck around on ally and enemy teams, and I'm extremely sick of blaning against all the fucktards who try and copy whatever Korea's LCS teams are doing, in blind pick games. My friends took the environment differently however, well, at least the newer ones did. They all turned into sweaty tryhards who grind ranked in hopes of getting gold this season, but just 3/4 a year ago they were incredibly willing to sit down and fuck around for an hour or two. It's fine that they want to play it competitively, but based off of the reward they get from succeeding in competitive versus the rewards that they'd get from doing the same things casually, you can really tell which one the game favors based on which route the "once casual" players prefer. While I will try to deal with the games new direction, in the end, I don't think I will continue playing after a point, just because there is not really any enjoyment anymore, even with all the constant updates. It's been years since I actually cared about a patch that wasn't the start of a new season. At this point I have already given up hope of coming back if they make it more rewarding for casuals. Basically the same thing as Karp, they waited too long, I had hope for too long, and if they do answer both of our hopes, just like Fly boi, I could just really care less.

Not only that, it actually feels like you're making some sort of progress in the game while still having fun(which is not a thing in league). Also, lately there isn't that much passion in league. And the the average league game can go from 15 minutes to well over an hour. And really the game only really starts at around 8-10 minutes. And it dies out very quickly. After about 25 minutes of being in a game you get tired and bored. Hell when the game gets to 30 minutes everyone's just waiting for the chance to just do a final push to end the game, and then you get a standoff and it's so, just, tiring. People Urf or Arurf because of just how silly it can get, but also because it's a faster paced league of legends, and even then you can have 30-40 minute games.

The new volibear patch which made voli better for ranked and championships by changing his ult and passive is a perfect example. Now you can't go ap attack speed and clap any poor soul that you come across. Its getting better for sweaty try hards who care about stats and try to climb ranked. And if I'm correct Matt will not play league or at least won't have it as his first option of content. It feels like most other players have been driven into the mindset of just hitting surrender if we're even slightly behind. I feel like I never get to see the nexus get destroyed anymore. People just give up. My most fun memories of league are battling it out until the end, even if the end is losing. Sometimes we can pull it around and get a super satisfying win. It blows my mind that play almost exclusively norms and see this defeatist attitude. I have found myself looking at the games less positively and I've been playing less especially since the end of last season.

  • it's definitely elitist and competitive in the dumbest way I think a lot of players loose sight of the fact that there is nothing wrong with playing at your level sorta regardless of what it is (idk what the hell is going on in iron/bronze though) but don't treat every game like its the fking LCS especially not in casual play. A friend I know in GM shattered the illusion for me when I was starting out with ranked and could just about get myself to mid silver when I said "I can't wait to get out of fucking silver so I don't have to carry these toxic noobs holding me back" and I will never forget his response "it doesn't stop, it only gets worse and you need to get into the habit of /mute all NOW" now I'm sorta on the edge of plat It's rang sickeningly true because if you make even what LOOKS like a mistake (say reconsidering pathing but the sudden change of direction looks like a missclick)...holy crap everyone looses their minds because everyone is watching everyone (they should) but they are also convinced because they are in "a higher-ish elo" they can play everyone else's role better. I'm kinda lucky only playing jungle/support I KNOW that in-lane I am garbage so even when I fuck up if they apologize I didn't even notice I'm just focusing on what I'M able to do. I had fun playing the game. there were no toxic people. all do random stunts and i thought it was normal. When i started watching the esports scene, it was really great. i never thought gaming was such a huge thing before i watched worlds (ofc there was dota i knew about ). It waas all new and fun. But now i dont feel like having fun playing the game, what video games are meant to do, right? That is saddening. Every one wants to play competitive. There is a lot of toxicity ingame too. People afk in the middle of the game just cuz they are upset with the team or on themselves for having a bad game. The esports scene has created a phenomena, that is true. But i feel bad for causal players who got into the game for fun and unable to find it anymore. I dont feel anything even if i win these days. i rarely play these days too. Im just searching for a new game where i can rediscover the fun for playing video games. ( Suggest me any good free games - im broke and cant buy a new game xD)

  • For what it's worth, I at least think the humor of the spotlight videos hold up. So the information may no longer apply, but they're still enjoyable to watch. I also think Riot has consistently had a problem, of being pretty good at what they do but then encouraging the wrong sort of things. When I stopped playing League, my opinion of it was that it was a pretty fun game, except that toxicity was baked into the core mechanics with the way the meta worked (the way the lanes and roles divide make it really, really easy to blame someone for having a bad game and causing the team to suffer for it, and that encourages people to attack their teammates rather than try to help them). I have a lot of fun watching your games with friends, so either way I think I'll still have a good time.
